Gurjun essential oil is also popularly known as Gurjun balsam oil which is extracted from the gum and resins of the Gurjan tree by using the steam distillation extraction process. The Gurjun tree grows in the wet forests of Southeast Asia. There are several varieties, which are cultivated by the local inhabitants for their living. Obtained by cutting the trees, it is used as a wood varnish by carpenters and for waterproofing boats. Oil is obtained from Indonesia and distilled in France.
